Hello & Welcome to my Genealogy Page! If you are tracing your ancestors who settled in
Richmond County, North Carolina you may want to know about my books. Myrtle
"THE SHADOW OF BILL"
This 116 page publication is Rockingham's fascinating true story gleaned from accounts from a variety of newspapers during 1925-1926.
"ISHAM NORTON OF JOES CREEK RICHMOND COUNTY, NC AND HIS DESCENDANTS"
This 174 page soft cover publication contains photos and copies of original death certificates, census, marriage and death,
and military records. I have attempted to fit together as many family members as possible. Old newspapers have been another
great source of factual data.
If your research is generally in the southeastern area of North Carolina, you
may like to know about "SCATTERED SEED - Genealogical Research Data of
Southeastern North Carolina."
The index is also posted for your convenience. This book was awarded in November 1999 a prestigious "Willie Parker Peace
History Book Award" by The North Carolina Society of Historians.
"NEWS ITEMS & MARRIAGE & DEATH NOTICES in
Weekly Standard A Newspaper Printed in Raleigh, NC 1859-1864"
is a rich source of information about people whose lives were dramatically disrupted by a conflict over a
century ago. Articles that relate to North Carolinians have been selected for their genealogical and
historical content. Many marriage, and death notices. A perfect gift for Civil War enthusiasts. Awarded the
Willie Parker Peace Award in November 2003.
"FINAL WORDS - 772 Original Wills
By Richmond County North Carolina Testators 1779-1915." Since October 2004
I have been acquiring and transcribing copies of the 772 original wills of Richmond County Testators
at North Carolina Department of Archives and History in Raleigh. This 690 page publication makes an excellent
companion for my Richmond County Estate Books. FINAL WORDS was awarded a prestigious "Willie Parker
Peace History Book Award " by The North Carolina Society of Historians November 2005.
Thanks for your
continued interest in my work. Myrtle Bridges.
I have several remaining copies of the 1886 Map of Richmond County, NC that went
along with OUR NATIVE HEATH. This map was drawn from actual surveys by John McDuffie & N. A. Graham. It
indicates each homesite with the owner's name. This map is especially interesting if your ancestors were
landowners in this county during 1880's. The size is approximately 2' X 2'. Great for framing. If you wish
to purchase a map, send $10 to:
