The Moore Co. Historical Assoc. has a new website that might be of interest to visitors to Hoke County website. The Shaw House is open for visitors Tuesday thru Saturday 1:00-4:00 p.m. with a docent on site to conduct tours. No admission fee is charged but donations are appreciated. Go to The Moore County Historical Association's new website Charles Washington Shaw married Katherine Bethune, daughter of Lauchlin Bethune of Cumberland/Hoke County, and they raised their family in the Shaw House. Portraits of Lauchlin and his wife, Ann Patterson, are displayed in the dining room of the Shaw House. Two other historic houses are also on the property so that visitors will see three different examples of simple early settler housing.
