This agreement made this the 20th day of November 1899 between Mrs. Laura P. Ray of the first
part and Norman Johnson of the second part both of Cumberland County, North Carolina, witnesseth.
That the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of thirty dollars per year
to be paid monthly, two dollars per month for the first six months and three dollars per month
for the remaining six months. Same to commence on the 1st day of December 1899, doth rent to the
party of the second part the lot in Campbellton known as the Ples Neal lot for a term of one year.
It being fully understood and agreed that should the second party fail to pay any of the aforementioned
instrument when due, then the same for the whole year shall become due and payable and the first party
shall have the right to enter and take possession of the property. The party of the second part agrees
to rent the said property upon the above mentioned terms.

the farm known as the Shank Manual or Sam Guy place save about five acres rented by Tom Johnson.
I agree to keep place in good order to prevent waist [waste] and guard against fire or destruction
of any kind.
I promise and agree to give her a mortgage on all crops made on her land till I deliver her a 450 lb.
bale of middling cotton as rent.
I promise to deliver her 450 lb. bale of middling cotton by the 7th day of November 1905.
I also promise not to cut any wood off of land owned by Mrs. L. P. Ray, Exec.

Memorandum of a contract of renting between Mrs. L. P. Ray, Executor and Trustee of N. W. Ray
of the one part, and S. E. Cain of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Mrs. Ray demises
and rents to the said Cain a certain farm on the Western Plank Road about three miles west of
Fayetteville, NC for the year 1905 upon the following terms. The said Cain is to pay as rent
for the same one hundred and twenty five dollars due and payable on Nov 1st, 1905 and the
said Cain promises and agrees to pay said sum as rent and to surrender the premises peaceably
and quietly at the end of the year. Said renting is made subject to the statutory liens for
rent. In witness whereof said parties have hereto set their hands and seals this 31st, Oct, 1904.
Said Cain promises not to cut any wood off of said land belonging to Mrs. L. P. Ray

of land on right hand side of road joins 'Gardener Chapel' on the East and on the West Currie Everett.
I agree to keep place in good order to prevent waist [waste] and guard against fire.
I promise and agree to give her a mortgage on all crops made on her land till I pay her the sum of ($10)
ten dollars in cash.
I promise and agree to pay her the sum ten dollars by Nov 1st, 1905.
I promise and agree not to cut any wood or timber off of Mrs. Ray's land.

Memorandum for agreement made this 9th Jan'y 1905 by and between Mrs. L. P. Ray, Executor and Trustee
of N. W. Ray and J. T. McCorquodale as to renting of the Jarrott Place on Plank Road 8 miles North of
Fayetteville, NC for current year.
The said Ray hereby demises and rents to said McCorquodale for year 1905 the said Jarrott Place for a
450 lb. bale of cotton to be delivered to her in merchantable condition middling goods on or before
Dec 1st 1905 at Fayetteville. And the said McCorquodale hereby promises to pay said cotton by way of
rent as before set forth, and also not to commit or permit waste of any kind on the premises and to
surrender the same at end of the current year in reasonably good repair as to fences and ditches.
In witness whereof said parties have hereto set their hands and seals the year and day first above
written.

I, Albert Carr agree to lease and rent from Mrs. L. P. Ray, Exec. of N. W. Ray about 30 acres of
land on the 'Smith Place' from the house he Albert Carr lives in (near Tom Johnsons) join the line
of Jim Tilman on upper side of A. C. L. R. R. [Atlantic Coastline Rail Road].
I agree to keep place in good order to prevent wast [waste] and guard against fire or any loss or
destruction of her property.
I agree to pay her 500 lb. bale of good middling cotton to be delivered in Fayetteville, No. Ca.
Nov 1st 1905
I promise and agree to give her a mortgage on all crops made on her land till I have paid her the
500 lb. bale of good middling cotton.
I promise and agree not to cut any timber off of said land, save the dead wood I use in my house
for firewood.

of land on the North West side Andrew Jones on the North N. W. Ray Est. N. W. Ray South.
I agree to keep place in good order to prevent waist [waste] and guard against fire.
I promise and agree to give her a mortgage on all my crops till I pay her the sum of $3.50 in cash the
1st day of November 1905.

side of ACLRR known as 'Gardener Land'.
I agree to keep place in good order not to cut any wood off of place or allow any to be cut while I have
possession of said land.
I agree to pay her the sum of ($5) five dollars in cash by and on the 1st day of Nov. 1906.
