In 2006 I discovered this family in an early Census of Nassau, Florida, and noting one of the sons was named 'Isham', I
wondered if Daniel Norton could be related to 'our' Isham Norton (b.1752 Northampton Co., NC - d. 1833 Richmond Co., NC).
I have not been able to connect the families but believe there may be a kinship.

Funeral services for James Daniel Norton, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday
in the chapel of Key-McCabe Funeral Home with the Rev. George Hodges, pastor
of Beaver Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Brandy Branch Cemetery.
Mr. Norton of 2972 Dignan St. died Wednesday night in a local hospital. He was born in Nassau County and lived
in Jacksonville 29 years. He was a Baptist and member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Earl Norton; four daughters, Mrs. Pearl T. Tanner; Mrs. Ruby N. Willis
and Mrs. Rosalie O'Steen, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Ethel M. Peeples, Lake Como, and a son J. D. Norton, Jr., Jacksonville;
four sisters, Mrs. Dean Peerson, Mrs. Della Dowling and Miss Evelyn Norton, Jacksonville, Mrs. Lizzie Stone, Fernandina;

Katie had no children by McRae.
Two of Katie's daughters, Lois & Elsie, told me yrs ago that their Mom, Katie said she knew her mother and that
her mother died when Katie was real young. As her Dad, Nathaniel, was traveling with the sawmills, he placed the
girls in a home for a while .. he then married Mary Wages Chancey in 1899 and the girls were back in the house with
their Dad and new Step Mom and Step sister Nettie.
They did say that grandmother Katie Norton would visit her real mothers family in St Mary..is this ST Marys GA
or ST Marys Fl in Nassau CO ???
Katherine's death cert lists the mother as 'unknown'.
