My dear young Friend, (Miss Sue Virginia Tate, Morganton, NC)
I saw with sorrow and regret the notice of your great affliction and bereavement, and my
heart goes out to you in tendered sympathy. You bless you, sweet young creature that you are,
it seems early in life for you to be going sorrow's way, "the way of the cross." But this life
to us is but one scene of mourning and distress. None are exempt, and it is that touch of
afflictions that binds us all together and makes us kindred.
My sympathy to your dear mother and also your family, and claim a portion for yourself,
because I know you and that makes you dear, dearer to me. With affection and love sincerely
your friend. Flora C. Keith Overman*
Mrs. William H. Overman.

*Flora C. Keith b. June 1857, South Carolina, lived in Rowan County, Salisbury, NC in 1900.
Her husband William H. Overman b. Oct 1846 was a merchant in Salisbury. (Census)
